About - With Love, Jieun

Hi, friends. My name is Jieun Ko.
I’m a Korean American writer,
musician, artist, and podcaster
based in Brooklyn, New York.

I started writing this newsletter back in 2016 on Mailchimp, as a way to keep a record of my experiences as I built my career as a singer-songwriter for my music project, Jieun & Greg. Over the years, as I’ve lived — through a global pandemic, a racial awakening, the loss of many relationships, the discovery of myself, cancer, caregiving, dying, death, and life after death — this newsletter has grown and changed with me. It has become a place for me to keep a record of what it’s like to be a human and live a life. It has become a place for me to give voice to the quiet fight.

In this newsletter, I talk about life, and the billions of moments that make up a life. I explore who I am and why I am the way that I am. I try to figure out how I want to live this one life of mine, with the limited time I have. I try to muster up the courage to keep showing up, every day, despite all of the things that have happened to us.

This is a life. This is our life.

My husband Greg and I have a musical project called Jieun & Greg. I host a daily podcast called Stay Soft, Stay Open, a podcast about vulnerability, courage, and creativity. In this newsletter, I will share my art from both of these projects.
