Hi friends,
This week’s newsletter is our field trips list for June! 🌿🌻☀️
If you read my newsletters every week, consider becoming a Patron of the Arts! For $5+ a month, you can have access to every newsletter, my full archive of writing, full access to my podcast, my monthly field trips list, acknowledgement in our credits, and our heartfelt gratitude for investing in us every month.
From ancient Joseon rulers, to the Rockefellers, Patrons of the Arts have existed throughout human history. Patronage has been around for over 4,000 years, and throughout that time, patrons have supported artists for many reasons — prestige, politics, ethics, or enjoyment. Without Patrons of the Arts, there would be no Statue of King Sejong, the Great Buddha of Thailand, the Sistine Chapel, the Mona Lisa, or The Last Supper. Patrons are imperative in making the artist’s creative ideas a reality.
The relationship between the artist and the patron has always been collaborative, dependent, and symbiotic. Without the patron, the art may never come into existence, and without the artist, the patron may never witness the art.
Financial support in The Arts is more than funding — it’s encouragement and belief in the artist and their life’s work.
Thank you for your support, friends.
With love,
Jieun
June is for Field Trips! ⛰🌿🌻☀️☁️
Field Trips are Asian American arts events that are happening all across New York City. I put this list together for us so we can go out and connect with other artists, support them and their incredible work, and be inspired as we continue to create our own art. I’ve been trying to go on at least one field trip every week — this week, I’m going to the Potluck Show + Tell and Echoes of Han. If you plan on going to any of these events, let me know! I’d love to meet up or go together.
Also, congratulations to our very own Art Club Member, David Quang Pham, and the world premiere of his science musical, Chemicals in the Water! Go see it at The Tank on June 27 and 28!
Let’s go out and support all of our Asian American artists, this month and every month.
